Using Twitter for Mass Communication

The other day I was in the Student Ministries offices overhearing Jeff (@JeffMaguire) talking about Twitter. Apparently, he had just recently visited a church whose youth ministry used Twitter as a way to send out mass text messages.

Here’s how it’s done:

have your target audience text follow username to “40404″ (if you’re in the US) and hit send.

That’s it!

They’ll receive a confirmation SMS message from Twitter letting them know that they’ve signed up, and that is all.
