hey schu, i reeallyy reaallyyy wanna know how you made this website. was it free? or did you have to by the domain?

I own the domain. It's currently hosted through mediatemple, but there are cheaper hosts out there. As far as what's under the hood, I'm using wordpress to manage all the content, I use the thesis framework (specifically built for wordpress), and then I code my own design off of the framework.
      Hope that helps.

    so…ouch. $20/mo?
is there a way i could get a free host without it being too crappy?

sorry, i'm a nerd apprentice, and i'm still training to be a geek.
haha. so idk, can you help me out a bit? XP

    anyways, thanks, that did help.

Well, there are definite free options. The first step is knowing whether or not you care if you have your own unique domain name. For example, if you go to http://wordpress.com, you can sign up for a free wordpress account, which would come with a "http://yourname.wordpress.com" domain.
However, if you want to go the paid route, Dreamhost is decent, and GoDaddy has pretty good prices.
The thing you need to be careful with (in regards to GoDaddy), is that owning a domain is not the same thing as having hosting. You need both in order to run a website/blog.

Hope that helps you some more. Feel free to ask all you want, I was a nerd in training once (still am).

it goes back and forth. I normally win, but it’s always a good game.
